PIN
The Self-Select PIN allows taxpayers to electronically sign their e-file return by entering a five-digit PIN into the tax software. The PIN is any five numbers taxpayers choose to enter as their electronic signature. (Volunteers may suggest taxpayers use their ZIP code.) The number cannot be all zeros.
When you file your return the following year, you use this PIN to verify your tax return. If you forget your PIN you can create a new one by validating your identity with last year's AGI.

IP PIN
The IP PIN is a six-digit number that the IRS assigns to victims of tax-related identity theft.
What do I do if my spouse has an IP PIN but I don't?
In this case, both must fill out or create the 5-digit PIN. They must enter their PIN from last year, if they do not have it, they must create new PIN by entering it in the box.
Then, they must fill in the IP PIN field only for the person who corresponds to them.
